The main goal of the Ministry of Food And Agriculture ( MOFA ) is to create an environment for sustainable growth and development in the Agriultural Sector that would include:
  • Provision of food security
  • Supply of raw materials for industry
  • Creation of employment
  • Reduction in poverty and the creation of wealth
  • Greater contribution of the sector to GDP
  • Generation of foreign exchange earnings
  • Beyond these, agriculture is also recognised to have a greater impact on poverty reduction than other sectors. Other roles are social stabilisation, buffer during economic shocks, support to environmental sustainability, and cultural values associated with farming.

    structurally transformed economy and evident in food security, employment opportunities and reduced poverty..
    MISSION
    MOFA's Mission is to promote sustainable agriculture and thriving agribusiness through research and technology development, effective extension and other support services to farmers, processors and traders for improved livelihood
    OBJECTIVES
    Based on the role of agriculture in the national development framework, the objectives for the food and agriculture sector policy are as follows:

    · Food security and emergency preparedness

    · Improved growth in incomes

    · Increased competitiveness and enhanced integration into domestic and international markets

    · Sustainable management of land and environment

    · Science and Technology Applied in food and agriculture development
