Objective of the position
To provide technical expertise for the development of district and regional women and youth programmes in agriculture; |
Responsibilities
- Promote the processing, storage and preservation of food at the household level in collaboration with Food Research Institute (FRI) and other relevant institutions;
- Collaborate with RAO Extension and Ministry of Health to develop messages on food base nutrition and home management;
- Promote the use of research results on gender sensitivity of farming methods;
- Provide technical support to women in agribusiness;
- Promote household backyard vegetable farming and school garden programs
- Collate and prepare bi-annual national and regional reports on women and youth in agricultural development;
- Prepare technical leaflets and training materials for use by Districts
- Provide technical backstopping to the districts in matters relating to women and youth programs and welfare;
- Advise the RDFA on all matters related to women and youth;
- Support the RAO MIS in the collation and analysis of data on the region’s women and youth; and
- Develop and promote institutional feeding programme in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Youth and sports and other relevant institutions.
