The 2023 National Best Female Farmer, Madam Edith Akosah Wheatland, has donated GH¢100,000 to support the 2026 National Best Female Farmer award.
Madam Wheatland, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Rockland Farms, presented the donation to the Ministry of Food and Agriculture on Wednesday, 7th October 2026.
Presenting the donation, Madam Wheatland said her contribution was intended to support the 2026 National Best Female Farmer and encourage other past National Best Farmers to give back to the agricultural sector.
“Supporting women in agriculture with access to finance, markets and technology is critical to enabling them to grow their businesses and contribute meaningfully to their families, communities and the wider food system” She noted.
Receiving the donation on behalf of the Ministry, the Minister for Food and Agriculture, Hon. Eric Opoku, expressed appreciation to Madam Wheatland and Rockland Farms for their contribution towards the National Farmers’ Day celebration.
The Minister called on Corporate Ghana and all well-meaning Ghanaians to support the celebration through donations and other forms of assistance, noting that such contributions would help honour the nation’s farmers and support the successful organisation of the event.
He assured stakeholders that all donations received towards the celebration would be used for their intended purposes.
The donation forms part of preparations towards the 42nd National Farmers’ Day, being celebrated under the theme “Our Farmers, Our Food, Our Future.”
The national celebration is scheduled to take place on Friday, 4th December 2026, in Sunyani in the Bono Region.
